Straight off their newest EP, "Hold On" continues the disco kick I've been on lately. While I usually loathe tracks that take 817249 years to really get going [sorry trance fans], Holy Ghost! seems to make up for it later as the song develops.
Wow! I haven't been good at updating this thing... I'm sorry! I just noticed how many visitors have been on here since I've been away, and there've been over 700! Thanks for stopping by, I'm going to try to be a little better at this. Anyways, I've been in a dance mood lately, being enveloped in the whole "Blackout" phenomenon (love "Radar" by the way)! So I went back looking for some similar stuff from a while ago.. and reunited myself with some classic Kylie Minogue. "In Your Eyes" has that sort of electro disco-pop sound that makes you feel just a little more upbeat and giddy. Kinda reminds me of the Hot Chip "Colours" remix I posted a while back, and also EBTG which I haven't posted yet...
Music to me is really all about the beat. Ringside is an artist that focuses much of their work around crisp percussion and suave, urbane tempos. I think "Raining Nextdoor" perfectly exemplifies the sort of style I'm trying to describe here. In any case, Ringside delivers a polished sound which is well-developed and addictive. Also check out "Struggle" from the same album.
When Baumer arrived on the scene only a few years ago, their sound was considered by some to be innovative and even groundbreaking for their fusion of electronic, pop and alternative rock music. Featured as a top artist on MySpace after only weeks, Baumer quickly carved out a footprint within the industry which has lasted since their inception. Fresh vocals highlight a creative and unique artistry which is only sometimes reminiscent of more major bands such as The Darkness or Muse.
The Go Find offers a very mello electronic experience in this album. Often compared to bands such as The Postal Service or Styrofoam, laid back vibes predominate throughout their music, creating stable sounds that are easy to listen to. However, TGF is one of those bands where you'll need to pick and choose your songs carefully, as some tend to disappoint. See what you think...
Yeah, so I know I already put up a few songs from Pinback, but I hadn't checked out this album until my neighbor's boyfriend brought it over tonight (thanks Jacob). Anyways, this goes back a few years but it's good and I like it. Actually, the whole album is great. For those living in or around Seattle, WA: Pinback will be playing on October 22, 2007 at the Showbox. For tickets or more info, click here.
<--- Also good.
With the first few words in "I Wish," it's a little difficult to tell where this song is going to go. Benjamin Diamond is usually known for his electro-themed collaborations with such artists as Daft Punk (most notably in "Music Sounds Better With You"), however this rendition is largely pop. The minor synth undertones add some moments of spice to a very fluid and uplifting melody.
Stateless' newest self-titled album is rich in its low-key, ambient-styled alternative grooves. Described on iTunes as Radiohead-Lite, the band seems to assert a more subdued rock/nocturnal fusion. Along with their unique vocals, I really enjoy the choice of album art and videography they chose. Others to check out are "Prism #1" (as also featured below) and "Crash."
I must be on a slow-song kick lately, but whatevs, I don't care. Aqualung is pretty big time, and I've always loved their work. This, their most recent album fits in well with their previous work and style. "Something to Believe In" is great. It progresses right from the start, adding stronger and more complex beats to its very quick, yet soothing piano melody. A more dramatic ending finishes it off nicely.
I thought I would put up Young Love after All Time Low because I think they sound somewhat similar. True to its name, YL projects some definite youthful vibes, but in a way that keeps their music upbeat and easy to listen to.
